High-pressure lamps for professional sunbeds

High-pressure lamps and emitters are used in dedicated tanning assemblies, including facial units. Identifying a replacement involves the lamp, its connection and the equipment’s optical configuration.

A compact lamp with the same wattage is not automatically an equivalent replacement. This guide focuses on the information needed to compare references and prepare a professional enquiry.

Identify the lamp and where it is used

Send the sunbed make and model, the lamp reference and the position in which it is used. If the equipment contains more than one lamp type, list them separately.

Photographs of markings on the ceramic base or another marked area are particularly useful. Add the lamp specification from the equipment manual when available.

Five details that make the comparison useful

Full reference

Copy all readable letters and numbers, not just a brand or a shortened name.

Rated wattage

Record the power specified for the lamp and the model. The same nominal power can be shared by different lamp constructions.

Base and connections

Provide the base designation if known and a clear photograph. Contact arrangement and any leads form part of the identification.

Dimensions and construction

Use the manufacturer’s drawing or technical data where available. Overall length and the construction around the connection help distinguish similar references.

Equipment and lamp position

Include the make, exact model and relevant assembly. The lamp must be assessed within the configuration for which it is intended.

Why the base matters, but is not enough

The base connects the lamp to its intended holder and circuit. A matching-looking base only answers part of the identification question: it does not confirm the electrical or optical suitability of the replacement.

The full reference and technical drawing help distinguish versions that may look alike in a photograph. Where an alternative is proposed, the relevant equipment specifications still need to be checked.

The lamp belongs to a complete optical assembly

A high-pressure tanning assembly includes optical components specified for that equipment. The lamp’s radiation is managed by that system, including its required filtering.

A replacement enquiry should therefore identify the actual equipment and assembly, rather than treating the lamp as an independent source that can be exchanged solely by wattage.

Never operate the equipment with required filters removed, damaged or bypassed. Questions about the condition of the assembly belong with the equipment’s technical service provider; this supply route does not include on-site servicing abroad.

What is different from the UV tube guide?

Low-pressure tube identification focuses on tube dimensions, caps, reflector characteristics and any UV-equivalence marking. High-pressure lamp identification puts particular emphasis on the exact lamp construction, base or leads, and the specified assembly.

Separate starters discussed for fluorescent UV tubes are not interchangeable with the starting components of a high-pressure lamp circuit. Do not request one by analogy with a tube starter.

Prepare the request without guessing the replacement

Send the readable reference, photographs, equipment model and quantities. If a marking is missing, say so: a partial reference is more useful than a guessed code.

The existing Italian high-pressure overview provides additional routes through the Sun&Service Solarium content. You can still complete your identification enquiry and discuss EU supply in English.

The Italian site also covers other products and services. Those pages do not extend the scope or confirm availability for EU supply enquiries.

For reference-by-reference identification, consult the technical tables for MegaSun KBL, Original Hanau. These lists do not confirm current availability.

Let’s identify the lamp you need

Contact Sun&Service on WhatsApp with the lamp reference, equipment model, base photographs, quantities and EU destination. We will review the request before discussing a proposal.

No compatibility, availability or supply terms are confirmed until the individual enquiry has been assessed.
