An easily forgotten sunbed check: the condensate container

Things we tend to forget — Part 1: the condensate container.

In my work with customers in Italy, I often receive calls that start with the same words:

“The machine has stopped.”

The first thing I do is try to understand the problem. I ask about the symptoms, whether an error message appears on the display, and use a few questions to begin an initial assessment over the phone.

On air-conditioned models fitted with a condensate container, we sometimes find that the stoppage is simply due to the container being full.

At that point, I always ask:

“When was it last emptied?”

That is when something becomes apparent. Many customers do not remember that their sunbed has a condensate container. Some do not remember where it is. Others say that nobody ever mentioned it, or that they had completely forgotten the task after many years.

It is understandable. When a sunbed is installed, there is a lot of information to take in: manuals are handed over and numerous procedures explained. Over time, some details are easily forgotten.

That is the reason for this series: small practical reminders that can help prevent avoidable downtime and support routine equipment care.

This reminder applies only to equipment with the relevant collection system. Follow your model's manual to identify the container and its prescribed emptying procedure. An error or stoppage may have another cause; do not bypass a safety device or assume that every machine has the same arrangement.
